St. Andrews Cathedral Parts of St. Andrews' ancient cathedral are in ruins, but more than enough remains to conjure images of the first Christians at worship within its stone walls. Completed in 1318, the Cathedral took 150 years to complete, and was finally consecrated in the presence of Robert the Bruce. The church has suffered pillaging, gale-force winds, fire and bitter winter storms. Its graveyard has many interesting names and stories associated with it, and is where Tom Morris, who won the British Open four times in the nineteenth century, is buried.
